One of the most successful community organizations in the UK is weight watchers.
I remember when I first taught meditation classes in the community in the room next door were the weight watchers - very, very busy!
In nearly every village/town/city in the UK there will be a weight watchers group offering sessions - watch your weight....
We have a mind and a body and they need to be in coalition with each other. Often our perspective can be physical which leads to physical results and a lack of interest in the non physical i.e the mind. The preoccupation with the physical can put our life out of balance.
Meditation practice works directly with the mind - accessing the power of the mind to bring about positive changes.
If you learn to watch the mind through meditation then this in turn helps to take stress out, as the stress goes we grasp less to food and we loose weight!
