Continuing from yesterday.
Meditation can be very effective for reducing the strength of our headache. If we try to build up a regular practice then it can actually get rid of it completely.
Meditation goes deeper than modern medicine - we are addressing the root of the headache which is the mind - when there is a build up of tension in the mind then gradually the tension in our head develops.
If we can learn to relax the mind in meditation then naturally the power of our headaches will reduce.
Our course it is good to take practical steps such as drinking plenty of fluid and reducing the amount of toxins that we put into our body - on top of this is the practice of meditation.

Today I will present you with another meditation and later we will record it for you so you have the opportunity to practice.

Headaches often come from a build up of tension in our head - too many thoughts,ideas,worries.
Thinking too hard or perhaps concentrating too much on a computer screen - or a bodily posture which over time causes strain on our back and neck which then leads to pain.
Meditation practice helps good posture - sitting with a straight back and relaxing the muscles in the body and the tension in the mind helps to encourage a relaxed body. This allows for movement of energy from the head down into the rest of our body.
Once you have settled into a good posture and relaxed the body and mind -
This process above can take 5,10,15 minutes depending upon your schedule.
Once you have done this you can think to yourself
"all the tension and stress in the head has dissolved away leaving me feeling comfortable and relaxed"
Focus on this conclusion for a short time.
Try and do this meditation regularly and you will notice a shift....
If you take a break from the mainstream news even for a few days - and then return it is quite a shock how controlled, manipulated and censored it is.
There is an addicted element about it, we are deceived into thinking that we are staying in touch with what is happening. Even to the point where we log in 10 times a day. Each news channel has its own agenda and there is an intense craving for sensational news.
The Media also tries to act as a judge, jury and executioner - as though due to their power they have the moral authority to decide if someone is innocent.
Jon Venables is splodged across the papers these past few days - everywhere - and people with serious deep voices tell us how evil he is over the radio.
Meantime life goes on all around you.
The tinternet gives you greater autonomy to decide where you get your news from how and when. People on YouTube even making their own news channels. Unbiased, unfunded, no agenda commentators writing their own blogs.
If you have the imagination and creativity you can even write commentaries to the news.
Most reporting is assumption, opinion and speculation.
You know this is true if you have ever been on the receiving end of the media - they create a story with partial evidence and then hype, twist and spin it.
Or go out into the big wide world and find the news - if you want to stay in touch - so much...
There are two types of meditation.
Formal and Informal.
Formal meditation is what we think of when we hear the words meditation. A person sitting still - either crossed legged or in a chair with a straight back - gathering their attention and thoughts within.
Attempting to rid the mind of distractions - the enemy of a meditator.
For most people who are tryin to engage in meditation practice the biggest task to begin with is finding the time....
The time 'thing' is to do more with motivation and intention rather that actual physical time - the intention creates time, possibilities and openings.
Time is limited nevertheless with responsibilities and commitments soooo that's where the informal meditation bit comes in.
Taking our experience of meditation out into our life through practicing mindfulness and maintaining concentration - this doesn't mean to say that we do everything in slow motion -

We just keep an eye on our mind and try at many times during the day to gather the mind in and stay focused and concentrated.
We can take the opportunity when we are walking, talking, cooking, cleaning - whatever we do we keep some attention focused on the quality of mind and keeping it strong and positive.
MIndfulness in our everyday actions builds a bridge from our formal meditation practice to our life.
